SPECIAL NOTES:
Channels should still be muted when connecting and disconnecting cables. The silent cable is a safety feature!
Please note that the signal isn't muted with active electric bass guitars which have a tip-ring-sleeve tap to activate the power supply.
Some guitars (such as Taylor/Expression System) have balanced outputs (TRS). The silent feature does not work with these instruments
Also, these cables are to be used with instruments only, NOT AS SPEAKER CABLES!

The Neutrik Silent Plug is a 2 pole 1/4" professional phone plug, with gold plated contacts, red rubber overlay, and the silent switch
This is a special version of the 2 pole plug with integrated switch which automatically mutes (shorts) a guitar cable to avoid annoying pops and squeals when hot swapping guitars. The integrated silent switch is based on the REED technology and guarantees a lifetime beyond 10'000 mating cycles.
